The Dastardly Tea Act

October 27, 2007

17th June 1773.

Dear Diary,

Things here have gotten far worse and ridiculous than ever. The dastardly Parliament just passed an Act on us, as if the past three Acts did not make our lives more difficult. The Parliament agreed on passing a new Act, which was the Tea Act. Of all the Acts passed by the Parliament, I am going to vote that this is the most ridiculous of all. What is in the Parliament in these days, using tealeaves for paper? It was worse enough for the Townshend Act, my dear book. The British officials were and still raiding our house for smuggled tea leaves. I still remember how I managed to escape those brutal officials. About this new Act, it is unnaturally and astonishingly unfair! The British officials did not inform us for how long we are going to pay for these things. Tensions are rising in the colonies. Massachusetts is talking about a rebellion and Boston is with them in some ways. A war could erupt in this new, young land.

  4. Not bad, Your description of the Tea Act was very vivid and personal. It could have been better if you told about the Boston Tea Party

  5. Azfar,
I loved your style of writing and the way you put this journal entry together… You made it sound like you were a true colonist writing in your diary in early days..You wrote wonderfully, and keep up the good work!!!

  6. Awsome Azfar, what a great entry. I can tell that a person deep inside in pain is sharing all his pain with the diary. I thought that the writer in real is Arthur Williams not Azfar. Great job.

  7. I thought your response was really creative in the way you described yourself as if you were really living in that time period. Just improve the way you described your experience
